I am continually reminded of how much I don't know, meaning that I am always being humbled by the experiences that come every day. I am not even asking for these experiences and they have a way of coming none-the-less. I am reminded of the primary song that tells how the rains came down and the floods came up on BOTH houses but only one survived the storm because of the foundation on which it was built. I feel I have a strong foundation but it is all the remodeling that keeps going on in my 'building'. I may not like the constant expansion of my rooms, but the end result, I am told, will be something to behold.
Because we spend a lot of time traveling, we are utilizing the time listening to the last General Conference. I am so grateful for the truths that are always taught in these talks. I am continually reminded of who is really in charge and to be patient with His timing. The Lord sees all things in an ever-present now and I MUST remember that He sees the beginning and the end and everything in between. My part is to trust this truth!
We had a Career Workshop on Tues and Thurs last week. It was a good experience and the tools that are a part of this program will be so beneficial if used fully. Jerry, who is 16, desires to be a doctor and after the first day, decided that it would be important for him to do volunteer work at a hospital. When he returned to the second day training, he had already called and enrolled in a training for volunteers. I feel that young man caught the vision of his potential and what it will take to fulfill his goal. What it takes to get one of these workshops going with participants and all, may seem like we are paddling upstream, but we find it is always worth it.
We keep pressing forward in this great work, and know that the little drop we add will become part of the whole. It is not about mighty achievements but simply loving the people and steadfastly doing the best we can.
With love,
Los Averys
